Twins, Sisters, and Friends is my first children’s book. My granddaughter’s Emi and Alex were the inspiration for this first children’s book. Watching them grow, I am so amused at how close they are as sisters and how they rely upon each other’s support even at a young age. It is cute to see how they relate to each other. I enjoy watching them play and encourage one another. This bond will last them a lifetime and they will always have one another to help them through life’s ups and downs.
I am reminded of other sibling bonds including cousins that were and continue to be role models for me within my own family and among friends.
One day while talking to my granddaughters, I commented how they were twins, sisters, and friends too. Emi replied to me “We are not friends, we are sisters. I went through a list of everything they enjoy doing together, and asked if friends do that too? The answer was yes to everything on the list. Then, I said, well then, I think you are friends too. They looked at each other jumping and laughing together. And so, an idea for a children’s book was born.
This is a children’s book about the special bond between siblings. While the book illustrates twin sisters, it can be any sibling: sisters, brothers, or brother and sister and not necessarily the same age or twins. Sometimes, the obvious is right in front of us yet we do not see it. As children, we might not realize that yes, my sister or brother is my friend, my first friend, and my closest friend. As siblings we do everything together. Our sibling bonds can grow, strengthen us and carry us through our adult lives. No one understands you better than your own sibling.
